!ULTIMATE UPDATE OF THE GODS!
What happened during First semester?
First semester of this year wasn't quite as eventful as the second, however I went through many stages of development of my idea. Originally I really just wanted to create an a story telling walk-through environment which would tell the story in an interesting way, interacting with the player to change the scene as the story progressed. Early on I really wanted to pin down on a story-line to focus my ideas on, which started out very different from how they are now. Early ideas ranged from a recreation of an older project which sparked this one, a twisted abstract alternate universe first world war in the sky, and all the way to a romantic and tragic tale of multiple sets of lovers telling the same story.
It later became evident that pinning down a story so early on before really exploring just what question I was asking with this project was not the right direction to go in. I was very lost on what I was actually doing in the first semester feeling far behind everybody all the time. Even by the end when I had a fairly solid question/concept to go on, I still did not have a topic or setting to pull it all together into a practical project.
My presentations through the year have been very interesting. I've performed not only my worst ever presentation where I completely froze up and just couldn't remember anything, but I also rapidly improved and told my best ever presentation just 2 attempts after. Very proud that I can now give deliver a smooth stream of information about my work without stuttering too much and actually feeling good while doing it. It's the rehearsals that get me. I just needed to tell myself to talk like I always do, but just focus on the key elements.
It wasn't until the Christmas break after the first semester hand-ins that I actually had that massive brainwave which I had been waiting for. A topic. A story. Something that was not only interesting, but was also personal to myself and very relevant to the research I had been doing.
Since August 2014, my grandparents(mother's side) moved in at home with my parents and I. The reason for which, is that my Grandma is in fairly late-stage Alzheimer's Disease, and my Granda wasn't able to care for her properly on his own. It was after the suggestion during New Year's dinner that my Uncle, who has always massively supported me with my art, seeded the idea of using this as a setting of my project. This was an instant click in my mind and I knew I had then found exactly the story I had needed, and ideas were flowing in fast afterwards.

This has been a fantastic short essay, but thank you for reading.
